M Interview with Robert Pattinson, Four Seasons Hotel, Beverly Hills, 02.18.2011

M: As the first question I would like to ask you about your co-star Christoph Waltz. What was it like to work with the Austrian Oscar winner who plays the circus ringmaster in the film?

RP: Great. He’s a real role model for me, not only as an actor, but also on a human level. Christoph was always very helpful, just like Reese Witherspoon. In the beginning I wasn’t sure how to act around them, as they are both Oscar winners. I was worried about them being aloof. Luckily that was not the case. Christoph and Reese created a great atmosphere and working with them a real pleasure. I learnt a lot from both of them.

M: Reese Witherspoon plays Marlena Rosenbluth with whom you have a forbidden love affair in Water for Elephants.

RP: Love often tastes of something forbidden. In my opinion the difference between love in a movie or in real life is that love is used purposely in movies to increase the drama and the suspense.

M: How exciting was it to work with the Elephants?

RP: Working with the animals was my main motivation to take the role. At my first meeting with the director Francis Lawrence at the elephant enclosure, I didn’t even know for which film he wanted to hire me. Francis wanted to see how I interacted with the animals and how the elephant would react to me. I was allowed to ride on the elephant, she threw balls to me with her trunk and blew air through her trunk at me. I was totally amazed and I accepted the role at the end of the day, even if there was the danger that it would be the worst film ever.

M: Were there any injuries or incidents on set?

RP: There are always incidents when you work with animals. Once a lion snapped at me, while I was feeding him through the bars of the cage. That frightened me of course. The experience that moved me the most happened while we were filming with a baby giraffe. She should have moved between the cages of the lions and tigers but was very afraid, just stopped and wouldn’t move. I pushed her a little bit and walked very close to her. As soon as we passed the cages the giraffe moved her head toward me and licked me. I will never forget my reaction, I felt like the king of the animals.

M: But you are. You just adopted a dog. Does it have a name yet?

RP: Not yet. I got it at the animal shelter in Louisiana. They were going to put it down in two days, as the shelters are only allowed to keep the animals for 10 days. He made it from the shelter to a private jet – like in the Disney movie Lady and the Tramp. Maybe that should be his name.

M: In Water for Elephants the circus world is quite brutal. Do you see parallels to the show business today?

RP: Luckily I’ve never been beaten up and I hope that cruelty against animals like it happens in Water for Elephants is in the past. There’s a certain roughness in show business. It must be a nightmare to work with mad people. Luckily that hasn’t happened to me yet.

M: Since the success of Twilight there’s probably a lot of circus in your private life?

RP: The circus is created by the paparazzi, but I’ve learnt to handle it better. I’m getting used to planning everything more carefully and doing things less spontaneously. My private live is quite boring, because I’m normally working all the time.

M: Water for Elephant is set during the Great Depression in the USA. How much do you know about that time in history?

RP: To understand the time of the Great Depression better I watched the documentation Brother, Can You Spare A Dime. I didn’t watch it to prepare for the role, but because I would have loved to have lived in the 1930ies. All the clothes from that time period also fit me very well, at the first fitting. I read some books about the Great Depression, because we live in a recession today and it was interesting to see how people handled the crisis back then. The despair can be seen in the faces, the posture and the clothes of the people. The Great Depression symbolizes the end of the Wild West for me. Until then America was known as the land unlimited possibilities. The Great Depression put an end to that myth.

M: Your next role in Bel Ami takes you to Paris during the Bel Epoque. You seem to like history.

RP: You can say so. Paris is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in the world and Bel Ami by Guy de Maupassant is one of my favourite books. For this role I would have flown around the world. I really did give my best and hope the audience will like the film.

M: You sound a little doubtful?

RP: Bel Ami tells the story of the professional and social ascent of George Duroy. The drawback is that George aka Bel Ami is ruthless and greedy for power. How do you make a movie in which evil wins over good – who wants to see that at the cinema? That’s really difficult and at the first test screenings the audience admitted they didn’t understand the concept. Neither do I and that’s just what’s extraordinary about Bel Ami. It doesn’t meet the stereotypes and that’s the reason why the book is one of my top favourites. I hope the movie will be very successful.

M: What will you be working on next?

RP: Cosmopolis – a very cool script. It’s directed by David Cronenberg and my costars will be Juliette Binoche and Paul Giamatti. I’m sure it will be great. After that I would like to write a script myself and produce films.

M: What can you tell us about the last Twilight film Breaking Dawn?

RP: I am not allowed to tell you a lot, which is a new experience for me, but I can say so much: Breaking Dawn will be fantastic.

M: In Breaking Dawn Bella is pregnant and married. How is Kristen Stewart handling her new role?

RP: She’s handling it great. Breaking Dawn is totally mad and completely different from the three films before – it’s almost eerie.

Was Rob nervous for your kissing scene?

Just a little bit. It’s really funny, because Rob is so...Rob. And even though he’s a huge heartthrob movie star, he’s so genuine. I figured since he was a megastar that he’d be like, 'Yeah, ok,' and I saw that because I’m older and lived a lot more life, I was comfortable being way more forward than he was. So, I definitely was aware that it was genuine, and that when I would move in to kiss him, he’d be like 'Whoa!' He was genuinely shy and it was all fantastic. How we prepared was just stepping into it and doing it. [He played] naïve and deflowered!

How does Rob rate as a leading man and kisser?

Rob, on a scale of one to ten, is a ten. He’s got luscious lips, and he’s so sweet, and he’s a tender person.

Reese told a story about Rob running scared from the zebras on set. Is that true?

After Reese had injured her ankle and when Rosie ran off, we were shooting this scene where it was just Reese, myself, Christoph, and Rob, and there were three zebras staked right near us. They’re very high strung, and they were going crazy and pulling up the stakes. Rob went running away and Reese grabbed Christoph and put him in front of her as a human body shield, and she was like; 'Oh my god, I don’t know what I just did!' And I was behind one of the support poles, and it happened so fast, it was really funny. But Rob was running away because he was supposed to be leaving to do something in the scene, so I think he didn’t want to break character. He felt so bad. He was like, 'Everyone is going to think I ran away because I was scared!'

Rob actually has to cross-dress for a particularly funny scene in the movie. How did he handle that?

I think he was genuinely really shy about coming out of that trunk. It was pretty funny for him to come crawling out with all of us eating our breakfast. And no one had seen him in his outfit, because his double was in there the whole time they were setting up. So when he came out of the trunk all the response to him was genuine. I think his response was genuine, too. He was really embarrassed!

Was there a lot of fandemonium near the set for Rob?

Every day. It was insane to me, because where we were shooting was so remote. We were an hour and a half outside of LA in these huge orange groves, and we’d be shooting nights, and when I’d leave work 4:00, 5:00, 6:00 in the morning there would be unbelievable amount of women in a ditch across the shooting area waiting for Rob. They didn’t leave. I was blown away. I’ve never seen that level commitment from fans until I saw all that.

How does he deal with that remarkable level of attention?

It’s remarkable how he deals with it. He deals with it immensely well, and I also think he can’t believe what’s going on. I think he stays really grounded, and I think he views it from a point of view of, 'Is this really happening in my life?' And all of the craziness around him and Kristen, I think they navigate it immensely well in how he handles situations. He’s so close to his family and they’re so grounded, his mom and his dad and his sisters, so I think that helps him. And the maturity. He's very well educated and very well read, but it’s lovely that he can be that mature.

Water For Elephants: Deadline Reports Friday's Box Office - WFE is #3 with 7M

FRIDAY 6:30 PM: (No Easter Weekend estimates yet.) Twentieth Century Fox's Rio may be about a bird, but very early numbers show "it's holding like a rock," a studio exec just emailed me. Lionsgate's latest in Tyler Perry's franchise, Madea's Big Happy Family, looks soft. This is, after all, Perry's sixth cross-dressing film; the last one opened to $41M and the one before was $30M. But overperforming is Fox's intriguing for adults and Robert Pattinson's Twi-hards Water For Elephants based on Sara Gruen's best-selling book and written by Richard LaGravenese and directed by Francis Lawrence. "Terrific start for Elephants as we could hit higher teens," a Fox exec tells me. It's also a good day for Universal's holdover Hop from Illumination Entertainment which will pop on Saturday and Sunday for the little bunnies and their parents. And Disneynature's African Cats narrated by Samuel Jackson is also playing strong for a nich nature movie. So it's not a bad Good Friday in more ways than one!

Robert Pattinson was always willing to spend time with Tai… Rob, if we needed to rehearse something, he was more and more willing to accommodate. I just can't say enough nice things about him, because he was great. He's a big deal. To me, being a novice, he seemed to work very hard on this. I think he gave 110 percent. And he's just the nicest person, not one ounce arrogant or anything.

Tai’s elephant memory brought some recognition when she reunited with her “Elephants” co-stars a few months after the shoot… After we finished shooting "Water For Elephants," a couple months later, we wound up doing stills with Rob and Reese. It seemed like she kinda knew who they were. They both came over individually when we arrived to say hi, and I think she had a little recognition of them.

Back to her north of the border filming locale, Kristen Stewart was hard at work on the set of "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" in Vancouver on Monday (April 18).

The Bella Swan babe was dressed in blue as she also happened to be sporting a ring in which her character received from Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen in the movie.

Also on location for the week-beginning shoot were Guri Weinberg and Noel Fisher - with the stars all rigged up in a device to replicate "vampire running."

A GossipCenter insider tells that security on the production was very tight with crew members holding up umbrellas to block the shots.

Twilight film studio Summit Entertainment has donated a The Twilight Saga: Eclipse prize pack to the Annual Mother’s Day Auction at CharityBuzz.

Items included in the package are: a framed Eclipse one-sheet poster signed by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, andTaylor Lautner, an Eclipse DVD, a copy of Stephenie Meyer‘s Eclipse, the official motion picture soundtrack for the film, and more Eclipse-related goodies.

The charity which will benefit from the auction of this particular item is Habitat for Humanity, Los Angeles.

The auction runs until May 3rd.

This is the latest of a few charity actions the studio has taken over the past few months. Summit Entertainment also donated a private The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1screening opportunity to Charlie Bewley (“Demetri”)’s “Run for Your Life” campaign (still on-going), and Breaking Dawn set visit opportunities helped raise over $140,000 for two separate charities.

Sara Gruen's best-selling novel, "Water for Elephants," evokes an earlier time, when towns came to a standstill to watch the circus folk parade down Main Street, the glint of tinsel could pass for glamour and the smell of sawdust could make a boy's heart race.

To be more precise, the novel is set in 1931, a few years after the heyday of the Big Top. The Great Depression is culling the stragglers, and the surviving outfits scavenge off the remains, picking up flea-bitten big cats and starving artistes on the cheap.

Directed by Francis Lawrence ("I Am Legend") from a screenplay by veteran Richard LaGravenese ("PS I Love You"), the movie version does a pretty good job balancing the surface exoticism of the Benzini Brothers Circus and the shabbiness that's fraying away at the edges.

For one thing, we're seeing this world through the sentimental eyes of nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski, reminiscing about his early twenties (Hal Holbrook, morphing into "Twilight" heartthrob Robert Pattinson), when by chance he hopped a train crammed with coochie dancers, clowns, acrobats, dwarves, ringers, razorbacks, roustabouts and enough animals to convince the ringmaster that a Cornell-trained veterinarian (even someone as young and untested as Jacob) is worth adding to the over-stretched payroll.

Played by Quentin Tarantino discovery Christoph Waltz -- an actor who always suggests his bite is much worse than his bark -- and aptly named August, the domineering ringmaster is alternately charming and terrifying, prey to volcanic rages whenever he's crossed. But it's his wife, the dazzling bareback rider, Marlena (Reese Witherspoon), who hooks Jacob -- well, she and Rosie the scene-stealing elephant.

For better or worse, this is an unabashedly old-fashioned melodrama, a love story aimed at mature audiences.

While August repeatedly promises the rubes "the most spectacular show on Earth," "Water for Elephants" proves a tonic for anyone who has had it up to here with the visual bombast of the contemporary Hollywood blockbuster. Spectacle does not have to be about shock and awe. The movie unfurls like a big top, or an elephant parade: lugubrious, but imposing.

Lawrence harks back to a venerable Hollywood classicism, a modest, self-effacing visual syntax that's in danger of being forgotten. But sometimes Lawrence seems to have forgotten it. There are several scenes where we can appreciate what he was reaching for, and you have to go the extra mile on the movie's behalf, mostly because we've seen them done before, and better.

LaGravenese retains the book's framing device and voice-over narration stokes a slow-burning, folksy romanticism. Wisely, he's combined the character of August (the head animal trainer in the book) with the circus owner, Uncle Al, handing Waltz much the biggest plate. He's a plausible bully, beating up on the elderly elephant in one hard-to-watch scene. The anger seethes out of him, and when August loses control, the movie jolts into life. But Waltz is less convincing in remorse, and Witherspoon's intuitive intelligence works against our understanding of the abused but dependent wife.

As for Pattinson, this slender, smoldering 24-year-old is destined to be patronized by the critics and probably a good part of the male population for a while, but he looks like the real deal to me. He has the bone structure, but he also has a sensitivity and seriousness that should stand him in good stead.

This isn't a bad role for him, but there's minimal spark between him and Witherspoon. They seem more besotted with the elephant in the room than with each other. Which is natural enough, I guess, but makes this handsome but rather stagnant movie more of an indulgent wallow than a genuine tearjerker.

Sipping on coffee with milk on a sunny morning at the Four Seasons, Pattinson describes attempts to housebreak the "German shepherdy-mix" he recently adopted from a shelter in Louisiana. "He's called Bear," Pattinson says matter-of-factly.

"I was trying to potty-train him to go on the balcony of the hotel room," he says. "It was so windy in Vancouver, the door slammed in his face, and I was just like, nooo." He sighs: Before Bear was adopted, the pup was found in a trash can outside a bar and has since almost had a run-in with a wolf and a seagull in Vancouver. "He's got a door phobia anyway."

Clad in a plaid button-down and jeans, and minus screaming fans, paparazzi, managers and studio minders, Pattinson lets go of his shyness in the time it takes to recap an "unbearably irritating" game of Words With Friends. It's only in front of a video camera later that he noticeably shrinks, adopting a hunch that matches his quick-to-draw sheepish grin. But one-on-one, conversation spins like cotton candy as Pattinson, 24, discusses hanging up his trademark vampire fangs for the 1930s-set Big Top world of Water for Elephants, a movie he calls "definitely bigger" than any other he has done outside the Twilight franchise.

In Water for Elephants, which hits theaters Friday and is based on the best-selling book by Sara Gruen, Pattinson plays Jacob, a veterinary student who abandons his studies and jumps aboard a steam train for the Benzini Bros. roughshod circus. Jacob quickly falls for star performer Marlena (Reese Witherspoon), who is trapped in a marriage with the circus owner (Christoph Waltz).

Blame it all on the selling power of an gentle giant named Tai.

Cowboys and trains

Director Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) banked on Pattinson's love of animals to sell him on the script.

"The first time I met (Lawrence), we went to meet Tai the elephant at her house," says Pattinson of the 42-year-old elephant who plays lumbering Rosie, the Benzini Bros. main act. Tai showed off tricks the studio originally thought could be accomplished only by a computer-generated elephant.

Charmed, Pattinson read the script on the ride back. Plus, "I always wanted to do something in the '30s in America," he says. "It's kind of my idea of what America really is, that period, kind of the best time to be in America. You're still kind of a cowboy, but there's this huge energy. The future was being created then."

The love triangle complete, Pattinson, Witherspoon and Waltz headed for Piru, Calif., where the desert set was bursting with circus tents, steam trains, hundreds of extras, spangled costumes, circus performers and animals. "There was something about the ruggedness of it, which I hadn't really done," Pattinson says.

Lawrence saw immediate chemistry between Pattinson and Witherspoon. "I think he's never been quite as charming as he's been in this," he says. "I think he feels like a real leading man."

The film put a newly clean-cut Pattinson in the center ring with two Academy Award winners (Witherspoon for 2005's Walk the Line and Waltz for 2009's Inglourius Basterds) and a coterie of more than 600 animals. "I'm sure Rob had some insecurities coming up into scenes against Christoph and Reese, but he never showed it," Lawrence says. "I think he watched and learned and listened."

And there were distractions. Witherspoon, who occasionally brought her kids to the zoolike set, laughs as she talks about Tai following Pattinson "sort of like man's best friend — even though she's 9,000 pounds." Pattinson recounts "insane" days, including one when the script finds Waltz taunting Pattinson to hand-feed a hungry lion. Pattinson opens the cage, and the lion pounces.

"We did the first take, and sure enough, the lion just ripped the (prosthetic) arm in and wouldn't give it back," Pattinson says. "He didn't even care about the meat. He just wanted to eat the fake arm. I was absolutely terrified."

"Both Rob and Christoph coined the term 'no acting required' in the lion scenes," Lawrence adds with a chuckle. "You didn't have to pretend to be afraid when you were around the lion."

Scarier still was the scene where Pattinson is knocked down by a stallion. "That was terrifying," says the actor, who admits to a fear of horses.

In Elephants, Pattinson's name receives equal billing with Witherspoon and Waltz, a nod to his international success with filmgoers.

Yet this is not the first time Pattinson has worked with Witherspoon; seven years (and a pop-culture lifetime) ago, Pattinson was an unknown fresh from the U.K. who scored a role as Witherspoon's, uh, son in 2004's Vanity Fair. His role ended up on the cutting-room floor.

Pattinson acknowledges how far he has come. "It's such a different world, for me especially," he says. "Then, I literally got (the role) by accident. I got an agent. A week later, I got that job."

"He was very young, like 17 or 18," says Witherspoon, who describes him today as "very quiet and introverted" and uninterested in fame.
As The Twilight Saga comes to a close with the two-part feature Breaking Dawn (based on the last book in the Stephenie Meyer series), the question looms as to whether the public is willing to pay to see Pattinson play anyone besides vampire Edward Cullen.

Lawrence acknowledges that the majority of the country knows Pattinson as Edward. "He definitely has more to offer than just what he does in that role," he says. But "when you head up a big franchise like that, that becomes so popular and the characters become kind of iconic ... it's tricky to break out of that."

Especially as those films continue to make money. The Twilight films, including New Moon and Eclipse, have made more than $1.8 billion worldwide. In his months off, Pattinson began to expand his résumé, first with last year's romantic drama Remember Me.

Elephants "is arguably a better vehicle for Robert Pattinson than Remember Me was, which was arguably a box-office flop," making roughly $19 million in the USA, says Box Office Mojo analyst Brandon Gray. (Eclipse made more than $300 million in the USA.) "This will be a good test of Robert Pattinson's bankability."

The actor is not immune to the criticism. "I always see these things like, 'Can he act or not?,' " he says. "It's like, I'm nothing like Edward. What do you think I'm doing in that?" He dissolves into laughter, gesturing with this hands. "So (when a new role arises), everyone's like 'It's very different.' "

'Breaking Dawn,' breaking out

He just wrapped Breaking Dawn's final chapter. "It's completely nuts," he says. "There are some days on set just watching you go, 'How is this going to be PG-13?' " He laughs. "The whole first movie is like a straight-up horror film."
Summit Entertainment is releasing Breaking Dawn, Part 1 this November, but Part 2 will not be released until November 2012. Meaning, no matter what other projects Pattinson takes on, the fandom and furor that surround the franchise are Pattinson's to keep until roughly early 2013.

Would he do a franchise again? "Only if I could have a lot of say in the development of it," he replies, noting the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" creative mentality of the series.

The spotlight is just as hotly focused on Pattinson's relationship with girlfriend and Twilight series co-star Kristen Stewart, 21. "I try my best to avoid it happening by never being seen or not saying anything stupid in interviews, but it doesn't seem to matter," he says of the rumors and headlines about them.

But his Elephants co-star says his life is more normal than it looks. "He's very much a 24-year-old guy who has a girlfriend and is enjoying himself and his friends," Witherspoon says.

It's hard to convince the fans of that: When paparazzi caught Pattinson kissing Stewart last week after the Elephants premiere, the blogosphere exploded.

"I just don't like it," Pattinson says; the rabid attention has forced him to unload his L.A. home and instead live out of hotels. "That's not part of my job. It's embarrassing, people using your life as entertainment.

"If people are already using your life as entertainment and they get their fill in magazines, they're never going to see your movies."

Aside from answering an interviewer's question, he vents only to his parents. "They always think I'm completely depressed because I don't really say it to anyone else. So they always think (being famous) is the most miserable experience in the world. They're funny. Whenever I sort of complain about it, they go, 'Well, just quit. What are you talking about, if you hate it so much?' "

Cue his explosively hot career.

"You've just got to remember why you're doing it in the first place — which is quite hard sometimes," he says, chatting about his next projects, Cosmopolis with Paul Giamatti, "a departure from everything I've done," and period piece Bel Ami, which has no release date set.

And so the circus, aided by a bit of technology, must go on.

"The only time I ever follow Twitter is if I'm in a restaurant or something, just before I leave, to see if people are waiting outside. It does make you a bit of a loser, especially when someone asks you, 'Hey, you want to go to dinner at this place?' and I'm like, 'Can we have dinner at this (other) place? It has three exits.' "

Robert Pattinson has nothing but love for his recent experience on the set of “Water for Elephants,” director Francis Lawrence's adaptation of the popular novel that's set to open in theaters Friday. It was a far cry from his current job, finishing the grueling six-month shoot for the back-to-back filming of the last two “Twilight” films, based on Stephenie Meyer's final book in her bestselling series of young adult novels, “Breaking Dawn.”

Pattinson took a moment for a brief phone interview before he was needed on the set of a night shoot for the vampire mega-hit. He seemed downright exhausted. “I'm just arriving at set, thinking I'm going to work all night,” he said. “I'm kinda losing my mind.”

Question: Sorry to hear you're so exhausted. Can you tell us what your time was like on “Elephants,” with Reese Witherspoon?

Pattinson: It's easily one of the best experiences I've had making a film and it's by far one of the best experiences in my life. It didn't even feel like work and a lot of that had to do with Reese. She makes an effort to make it like that. I think she believes that it's really important to enjoy your work, especially when you have to be there for so many hours every day. I made a great friend out of it.

Question: How did working with the animals impact the environment?

Pattinson: When you have totally unpredictable elements, and there are dangerous elements in every single scene, everyone is in the same boat. If you're trying to herd up a pack of horses, it doesn't matter who you are. There is manure everywhere and everyone was filthy all the time. It was an egalitarian set because of that. It's quite inspiring to be around [the elephant]. It doesn't really matter what your taste is, everyone is going to like being around an elephant. It's not like being around another actor some people may not like.

Question: Reese mentioned that she found the paparazzi attention on you unlike anything she's seen before. What do you think?

Pattinson: She's trying to sound humble about all this but she's in all these magazines every week. It's a circus outside her marriage. Plus, I always see her [in them] buying her sandwiches and going to yoga.... I guess she's kind of accepted it in a lot of ways.... It's just a strange situation to be in if you're a sane person to have that kind of attention put on you.

There's no denying Robert Pattinson has a certain something. Experts have tried to pinpoint the precise formula for his unique brand of awesome (unkempt hair + self-effacing personality = the man of our dreams?), but the magical recipe continues to allude. Being the benevolent blog that we are, we decided to aid the scientific community by asking someone who's got loads of personal insight—"Water for Elephants" costume designer Jacqueline West.

You see, Jacqueline gave Rob his favorite pair of 1930s underpants (no really, read all about it), and we figured, who better than the woman who dressed him (figuratively at least!) to give us some dish. Jacqueline spoke to us about Rob's cool style off set and how his physique was different than what she expected after seeing "Twilight."

"You know, he’s very casual. He wears jeans and hoodies and tennis shoes, but he has a really, really nice style," she said. "Everything is well selected, but he’s very casual. He is a jeans and T-shirt, sweatshirt kind of guy." In other words, totally our type (hear that Rob?).

Jacqueline also added that Rob cleans up "nicely" but that she prefers his "dirtied" up look in the flick.

"This movie, I used to tell friends, 'he really dirties up well.' We've all seen him...used to seeing him so scrubbed and clean in the 'Twilight' movies. It's great to see him dirty and sweaty and dusty and really in working clothes," she said (as if we needed another reason to go out and buy a ticket for the movie). "It was a nice transformation and it made him such a different person than the other films I've seen him in."

Speaking off those other films, Jacqueline said that she watched "Twilight" to get a sense of Rob's body shape but that it didn't really do justice to his physique.

"I didn't realize from the 'Twilight' movies how really manly he is. I didn't realize until I really met Rob in person how really manly I could make his wardrobe and that he would be able to wear it so well," she said. "I didn't know how big he is. He's really like a Gary Cooper or someone like that, he has incredible stature."

A manlier, dirtier Rob? Don't mind if we do.
